UWE UNISON’s feedback on CATE Technical Re-Organisation

The branch has sent it’s additional documentation for the CATE Technical Re-Organisation to UWE management!

Our feedback is based on the contribution of staff across CATE, both members and non-members, from individual meetings, written submissions and team meetings. We appreciate the collaboration with UWE UCU Reps, its members and wider academics who recognise the negative impact of the current proposed Technical changes impacting academic delivery and on student experience. So also thanking UWE Student Union Executives in meeting with us to discuss the situation.

A key cost-saving recommendation from the union is to reduce the number of Directors from two to one. This would align the College with the others, creating uniformity and achieving more than a quarter of the cost reductions outlined by senior management. It also allows for, “reinvesting in frontline staff and choosing sustainable efficiency and educational excellence.”

Below are the additional files submitted, these are to be read alongside our earlier mid-consultation submission which can also be found at this link

For the time being UWE UNISON’s advice is to contact the union or your local Reps if you are being asked to sign any new contracts.

Once again, thanks to the collective effort in contributing towards the feedback. We’ll update further when we have more information.

In solidarity,

Tamsila Tauqir, Chair of UWE UNISON
